b83c069b0b Move power-btn and operable props into base class
AbstractInstrument now handles a generic power-btn and operable
property, and hence includes them in the serviceable-and-powered
check.

7b8804bd40 Tolerate refactored SGSound headers.
An upcoming commit will make the sound headers standalone, and no longer include various other headers / using std:: declarations. Prepare for this by making includes and usage of namespaces explicit.

9b900e9430 Implement a persistent cache for navigation data.
Cache the parsed navigation and airport data in a binary file to reduce
startup times and memory consumption (since only referenced FGPositioned
elements are held in memory).

Data will be reimported when the mod-time of any input file is changed.
If a global file is changed (nav.dat, awy.dat, apt.dat, etc), the cache
will be completely rebuilt, which takes approximately 30 seconds on
moderate hardware. (Future work may reduce this).

d50aa8999d ADF: add "operable" property
Add same property as for nav radio, to provide a property to cockpit models
whether the ADF is active (serviceable/switched on/power ok/...). Useful
to enable/disable displays (i.e. KR87).

d47342a5a4 Add --log-class option, improve logging classes.
Replace SG_GENERAL by more specific log classes in many places.
Allow "," to separate logging classes (using "|" is odd on the
command-line).
Also add new option to make logging more useful for developers.
You can use:
  --log-level=debug --log-class=environment
to only get environment debug messages, or
  --log-level=debug --log-class=sound,ai
to only get debug messages related to the sound or AI subsystem.

43109feb0c Some more refactoring of the radios
- wrap the ident-generating code into a class
- move dme-in-range property into dme.cxx
- move dme-ident generation into dme.cxx
- support ident-button and volume for dme idents
- use globals.get_aircraft_position instead of properties
- some minor cleanup

3dd75394af Fix ADF bugs ... including still driving the needle when power off.
ADF bug fixes from John Denker. Changes from current behaviour are:
* Include the power button in the electrical checks
* Raise the required input voltage from 1V to 8V
* Don't reset the heading to 90 degrees when out of range or no power
(heading is now only reset to 90 in ANT or TEST mode)

f9445874a0 Don't make the SoundManager a memebr of the subsystem manager; It needs to be initialized very early and destroyed as late as possible. That doesn't work as a subsystem meber onless some sort of priority scheme gets implemented. Get rid of auto_ptr which doesn work for the samples either. 2009-10-24 19:51:39 +02:00

988de9dbca Remove all name and spatial queries from FGNavList. All remaining queries are
by frequency (which makes sense), and use the FGPositioned spatial data if
required. As a result, the marker beacon list is gone (since beacons are only
searched spatially). In the process, clean up various minor things - most
notably, all the 'airport-related' navaids (ILS, GS, LOC, and the beacons) now
store a FGRunway* instead of an airport id string. This is more precise, and
saves string allocations.

c4a38e10ec James Turner:
Attached patch + new file make FGNavRecord have a .cxx file, and a constructor w
hich allows all the parameters to be supplied. Along the way I also cleaned up t
he navrecord.hxx header, lots more header pollution has been killed.

Some long methods are no longer inline, but were all suspiciously long to meet c
ompiler inlining criteria (I'm not clear if the 'inline' keyword is advisory or
mandatory in this situation) - I don't expect this to affect performance in any
way whatsoever.

The constructor addition is to support some hacking I'm doing improving the star
tup performance of the navDB by lazily loading the data, and caching it in a mor
e efficient format than text. I'm submitting this change (and probably some othe
r small tweaks in the future) since they are worthwhile as cleanups regardless o
f how my current experiments work out.

We have decided that hardcoded initialization of instruments and systems is
bad. So we remove them.

Hardcoded initialization is bad because it can't be overridden from config
files or from the command line. We prefer to do it through config files that
should be, eventually, aircraft specific (*-set.xml), not global
(preferences.xml).

Instrumentation and systems are now configureable from xml files. The two
generic configurations generic-systems.xml and generic-instrumentation.xml
configures the systems and instrumentation as it was hardcoded. You can
override the generic configurations in a similar way as you override the
autopilot configuration.

All necessary elements for an ADF gauge had been migrated from
Cockpit/kr_87.cxx to Instrumentation/adf.cxx. Migrating the sound
related elements was apparently planned, but not done yet. This
intermediate state broke the ident morse sound: it couldn't get
turned off and it always indicated "SF", regardless of the tuned-in
frequency. The following patches continue the migration:

adf-radio.diff     => Base/Aircraft/Instruments/adf-radio.xml:
---------------------------------------------------------------
* sets maximum volume to 1 (rather than 2); Not only is 1
loud enough (and 2 unpleasantly noisy), it also prevents
the knob from being turned to non-existant positions. :-)
* fixes wrong use of /instrumentation/adf/ident
* the voice/ident selector(?) remains unchanged, but as it's
not switched to "IDENT", there'll be no ident sound by default
this is consistent with other sounds and DME.

radiostack.diff    => src/Cockpit/radiostack.[ch]xx:
---------------------------------------------------------------
* comment out use of FGKR_87 class. kr_87.[ch]xx is now no
longer used. kr-87adf.xml would no longer work, either, but
isn't used anywhere, anyway. Future adf radios have to use
the adf instrument, using xml/Nasal for specific hardware
  implementation details.

adf.diff           => src/Instrumentation/adf.[ch]xx:
---------------------------------------------------------------
* adds ident morse sound capability using two new input
  properties:
  - /instrumentation/adf/volume-norm (double)
  - /instrumentation/adf/ident-audible (bool)

b2b33f7582 This set of changes impliments the following:
- FG now directly supports Robin's native nav database file format.
- His latest data now separates out dme, gs, loc, and marker beacon
transmitters rather than lumping them all into a single "ILS" record.
- These new data structure changes prompted me to do some code restructuring
so that internally these different types of navaids are all kept as
separate lists and searched and handled separately.
- This structural change had a cascading affect on any code that
references or uses the nav databases. I've gone and "touched" a lot of
nav related code in a lot of places.
- As an added bonus, the new data (and code) adds DME bias so these will
all now read as they do in real life.

- Added Navaids/navdb.cxx and Navaids/navdb.hxx which provide a front
end loaders for the nav data.
- Added Navaids/navrecord.hxx which is a new "generic" nav data record.
- Removed Navaids/ils.hxx, Navaids/ilslist.cxx, Navaids/ilslist.hxx,
Navaids/mkrbeacons.cxx, and Navaids/mkrbeacons.hxx which are all now
  depricated.

2caa017a79 Change nav->get_elev() to nav->get_elev_ft() to convey the actual units
explicitely. This value has always been feet, but there were a couple places
in the code that assumed this elevation was meters. The result was that you
could park directly over the top of the Black Forest VOR (112.50) NE of KCOS
and get a dme reading of 2.5 or so. This problem is now resolved.
