634e79353f Roy Vegard Ovesen:
I've finished the emigration of the radiostack, and I've also removed it
completely. It turned out that the comm radio is completely implemented in
the ATC subsystem. I've changed the affected ATC files to point
to /instrumentation/com, but I guess that the maintainer of the ATC code
should decide wether to make it configureable, and how.

I also had to change some files in Network and Main. The changes in network
should be obvious, but the changes in Main were a bit suspect. The files
included radiostack.hxx, but they weren't directly depending on
radiostack-hxx. They were depending on other files that were included by
radiostack.hxx. I got it to compile, but I'm not sure if I included the
correct directly depending file.

For the data directory I changed every occurrence of /radios/
with /instrumentation/ with this simple one-liner that I found on the net:

find -name '*.xml' -type f | xargs perl -pi -e
's/\/radios\//\/instrumentation\//g'

Instead of me sending all the files that got changed by this I suggest that
you execute the one-liner yourself. Of course I can not guarantee that this
will work perfectly, but I considered hand editing to be not an option (I'm
lazy). I don't want to test every aircraft to see if everything still works,
I think it's better to wait and see if anyone complaints about broken nav
radios/instruments.

62df58d4f8 I have added Aaron Wilson's virtual 3d runway projection to the HUD.
Aaron says:

I just got the virtual runway hud projection working on all views and
2D & 3D HUDs. It is working awesome(see below). I have attached every
file that was modified (hud.hxx, hud.cxx, and the default.xml for the hud)
and every file that was added (hud_rwy.cxx and runwayinstr.xml).

Just a quick overview of how the instrument works.

The virtual runway is projected by getting the "cockpit view" of the
runway in 3D and projecting the points on to the 2D HUD. Therefore, the
virtual runway will be displayed the same in every view. For example,
you can land an aircraft from the "Tower View" by flying the HUD. Also
if you're in "Cockpit View" and it is centered then the virtual runway
lines will perfectly outline the actual runway. I am getting the active
runway via the wind like done in the ATC classes, which may need changed.
Also, I made the assumption the view 0, in view manager, is always the
cockpit view, which may need changed as well.

The runway configuration file will allow you to specify a center offset
(x,y) and a bounding box (width, height). You can also configure the line
stipple pattern for the outside and the center line. For instance, if
you wanted a 0xFAFA pattern, then specify 64250 as the value. If you
want a solid line, you can specify -1 or 65535 (0xFFFF) and zero will
turn the line off. It also draws a runway indication arrow when the
runway is not in the HUD or it can be drawn all the time if arrow_always
is true. The arrow will point in the direction of the runway (2D) by
rotating around the center at a radius of arrow_radius. If you wish to
turn the arrow off, you must set the arrow_scale <=0. The arrow really
should be 3D arrow that points to the runway (or points in the direction
of the aircraft-to-runway vector).

4f00d9a959 Tidy up the autoconf/automake configuration a bit.
- Removed some old cruft.

- Removed some support for older versions of automake which technically was
correct, but caused the newer automakes to squawk warnings during an
initial sanity check (which isn't done very intelligently.)

NOTE: this fix is technically not correct for older version of automake.
These older version use the variable "INCLUDES" internally and could have
them already set to an important value. That is why we were appending
our values to them. However, newer versions of automake don't set this
value themselves so it is an error to append to a non-existant variable.
We seem to "get away" with overwriting the value on older versions of
automake, but if you have problems, consider upgrading to at least
  automake-1.5.

396674ce2e Patch from Martin Dressler:
This patch moves built-in Class (for now only mag-ribbon) into special
directory as you have written it in TODO: in comments of this class in
panel_io.cxx. IMHO it is good idea. I want to play with built-in
classes and OpenGC and this will be useful.

1fa4c88d0e Updates to build system to better support automake-1.5
- automake-1.4 sets default values for INCLUDES which we can't
  overwrite.
- automake-1.5 renames this to DEFAULT_INCLUDES and leaves INCLUDES
open for the developer to use.

Thus for automake-1.4 we are forced to 'append' to INCLUDES and in
automake-1.5 we can just set the value to whatever we like.
Unfortunately, the behaviors of the two versions are mutually
incompatible.

The solution I am committing now works for both versions but
automake-1.5 generates a lot of spurious warning messages that are
annoying, but not fatal.

2154915465 a) HUD - Here is the updated hud code with moving pointers, dials, turn/slip gauge, choice of circular ticks, two sizes for fonts, box for text labels etc. based partly on MIL-STD-1787b and our pilots requirements. Our pilots are not very enthusiastic about all symbols discussed in MIL-STD-1787b (I suppose it is very subjective) and so I did not have motivation to try all of them. Even now I plan to do simple symbols as seen on Russian aircraft since our Air Force pilots are familiar with them. That should be part of my next update. I have included a html document which is basically the old text file plus some snapshots with all possible hud symbols linked to corresponding xml templates. You have to just cut & paste the template, change names and positions to create additional symbols (if you have the real estate on the hud). 2001-09-19 22:23:25 +00:00

a975fd77c5 User-visible
- knobs now continue to rotate when you hold down the mouse
- the middle mouse button makes knobs rotate much faster
- there are NAV1, NAV2, and ADF radios that can be tuned using the mouse
- there are standby frequencies for NAV1 and NAV2, and buttons to swap
- there is a crude, rather silly-looking DME, hard-wired to NAV1
- there is a crude, rather silly-looking autopilot that can lock
the heading (to the bug on the gyro), can lock to NAV1, and can lock
  the current altitude
- the knobs for changing the radials on NAV1 and NAV2 look much better
and are in the right place
- tuning into an ILS frequency doesn't change the displayed radial for
  NAV1

Code

- I've created a new module, sp_panel.[ch]xx, that constructs the
default single-prop panel; this works entirely outside of FGPanel,
so it is possible to construct similar modules for other sorts of
panels; all code specific to the default panel has been removed from
  panel.cxx
- current_panel is now a pointer
- radiostack.[ch]xx keeps track both of the actual radial and of the
selected radial (they will differ with ILS); the NAV gauges should
not spin around automatically to show the actual radial (we need to
do something similar with the autopilot)
- the panel is initialized fairly early
- make sure that standby frequencies also get initialized
- I've started combining and clipping small textures to save texture
memory; there's a lot more to do, but at least I've made a start

cc26bb7fe7 Removed all dependencies on <simgear/math/mat3.h> and friends. These are
old routines from SRGP. Steve's plib/sg.h does a nice job of completely
replacing this (and since plib is already around) and is a nice clean design
so it just makes sense.
